Enjoy,
Howard Kroplick
William K. Vanderbilt II, a well-known yachtsman and scientific explorer, spent much of his life at sea. The custom-built Alva, 264-feet long, was his largest and grandest yacht– a marvel in its time. In it, he and his wife, a few friends, and a large crew circumnavigated the globe in 1931-32. Along the way, he collected countless marine and natural-history specimens and cultural artifacts for his growing museum. This video follows the story of the Alva, from her creation to her eventual sinking.

Killian did a very nice job putting the film together!
Yes, very well done. your little bits of history about anything that there to be had that people never even knew about.
While I’ve known of the yacht, it’s still a great story, nice piece of film, and of Long Island history.
