VanderbiltCupRaces.com Exclusive: Photos of Old 16 at the 1948 Antique Auto Show from the Helck Family Collection


Old 16 was the featured vehicle at the Antique Auto Show held from March 8-14, 1948 at the 71st Regiment Armory in Manhattan. Below are never-before published photos of the event from the Helck Family Collection.

Photos form the Helck Family Collection

The 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Race winning team of driver George Robertson and mechanician Glenn Ethridge were reunited with Old 16.

The 1906 American Elimination trial winner team of driver Joe Tracy and mechanician Al Poole were united with reunited with Old 16.

Amazing shots. And a reminder that indoor lighting has come a long way, as well as automobiles.

I like the end of the story, the “smart new ‘48’s”.  Quite collectible today.
