Tucker 1044 at the 50th Anniversary Jaguar Concours at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum

On a very soggy Sunday, September 10th, 2023, Tucker 1044 was invited to come celebrate in the 50-year Anniversary Concourse of the Jaguar Drivers Club of Long Island at the Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium in Centerport, Long Island.

Despite only seeing about an hour WITHOUT rain, the dark clouds and wet field didn't dampen the enthusiasm in which the Jaguar owners and spectators welcomed Tucker 1044!

Master of Ceremonies, 'GT Joey', brought the Tucker front and center for and in-depth look at Tucker 44 taking up about 20 minutes of the 60 minutes the show had without rain.

Not just Jags, but a few Aston Martins and an Austn Healey or two attended. A beautiful Mercedes on hand. A hard rain started before any other cars could be photographed.

Rain, rain, go away...

The Tucker looks great in any weather! I usually go to this show every year but with the forecast i passed. I’m surprised they held it since the rain date is this coming Sunday which has a beautiful day expected. Great venue to see some classic cars.

The rain eventually stopped and it was nice.  Forecasts change daily.  Friday night we reviewed the weather and decided to do the show.  There was also an Atlantic hurricane predicted to possibly affect the island the following week.  That would have eliminated the rain date on September 17.  There was a huge tent for attendees to stay dry.  When cars get wet, dry them off.  The Tucker should have stayed the course.  The Jaguar club starts planning this event almost a year in advance.  Kudos to all who weathered the rain.

20 20 hindsight, the following Sunday would have been a huge dud, though there was no way to know that.

The rain leads to a question; how effective are the Tucker’s windshield wipers, and how well do the brakes work in the rain?  I’d expect that with disc brakes, they’d have been far better than most drum brakes of the time.
