Update: Mystery Foto #52 Solved: A 1966 Chevy Impala parked in front of the historic Roslyn Grist Mill in 1967

Did you solve the final Mystery Foto of 2021?

Answers to the Mystery Foto questions:

  • What is the location of the Mystery Foto  and the orientation of the photographer?

Looking east on Old Northern Boulevard at the historic Roslyn Grist Mill in the Village of Roslyn in March 1967.

  • Identify the manufacturer and year of the automobile.

1966 Chevy Impala (likely a station wagon)

  • Link the historic Village of Roslyn to the Vanderbilt Cup Races and the Motor Parkway.

-The headquarters for the 1905 Mercedes X was nearby at the Mansion Hotel in Roslyn.

-Sections of the 1905 and 1906 courses included Roslyn

-Clarence Mackay, a resident of Roslyn (now East Hills) was a friend of Willie Vanderbilt, Jr.

-Roslyn photographer William Pickering documented several of the Vanderbilt Cup Races

- One of the Motor Parkway's toll lodges was called the Roslyn Toll Lodge, even though it was located in nearby East Williston.

Old Northern Blvd., Roslyn, looking northeast. The car is a 1966 Chevrolet. The Bull’s Head Hotel in Greenvale (once known as North Roslyn) was the HQ for teams that raced in the ‘05 and ‘06 Vanderbilt Cup Races.

The photographer was looking generally east on Old Northern Blvd. in Roslyn in front of the historic Roslyn Grist Mill. I believe the car is a 1966 Chevrolet station wagon but can’t tell the trim level (Biscayne, Bel Air, etc.). The only link to Roslyn I could find was that a small portion of the 1906 Vanderbilt Race course passed through the Village of Roslyn on Mineola Avenue northbound before turning left and heading west on Northern Blvd.

Photographer is facing North East, the Car is a 1966 Chevrolet Station Wagon, full size unable to identify 100% what specific model it is Impala, Belair or Biscayne, leaning toward Belair absence of the hood split molding, and the stainless rear view mirror indicate from this view it would be a Belair.
Nor sure of the specific connection to the Village of Roslyn and the races are , maybe start finish line?
