Update: From the Thayer Family Album: Four Photos of the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race

I recently purchased these photos on Ebay originally from the Thayer Family with the caption "1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race".

Check out the blur of the race car.

It was the  #2 Lozier (USA) driven by Ralph Mulford. Finished 5th. Completed 22 laps averaging 63.1 MPH.

#16 Benz (Germany) driven by David Bruce-Brown. Finished 12th. Flagged while running during lap 22 when race was called. My best guess  is the photo was shot in Hicksville.

The spectators at the 1910 race. Note the man with the camera.

The Thayers in their family car.  The Thayers were descended from early settlers to the United States. Can anyone identify the automobile?

From Ariejan Bos, Nijmegen, The Netherlands:

The identification proved in the end to be less difficult than I thought at first: it is a 1911 Cadillac model 30 demi-tonneau. Attached a page from the 1911 Handbook of Gasoline Automobiles and a photo of a survivor. All details are identical, the survivor clearly shows the identical rear wheel hubs. The reason that it took some time was because I was focused at 1909 and 1910.

Of course this car cannot have been used for visiting the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup, as this model will not have been available before the summer of 1910.

Mark Thomas suggests the automobile may have belonged to Francis Kendall Thayer of Sands Point.
