Frederick Ogden Beach-“bosom friends” with Willie K’s father

As a follow-up to last week's Mystery Foto, I recalled the above photo of F.O. Beach (circled).

Frederick Ogden (F.O.) Beach was a guest in 1888 on a paddle steamer  Price Abbas chartered by his good friend William K. Vanderbilt for an exciting Nile River cruise.

In this photo 10-year old Willie K can be seen just above F.O.

The entire Vanderbilt family was on the cruise including  Willie K's mother Alva Vanderbilt posing on the far right. She may have caught the eye of your future husband O.H.P. Belmont on the far left.

Enjoy,

Howard Kroplick
