In the May/June 2011 issue of Antique Automobile Tom Gibson wrote about his 1986 encounter with the 1937 Chrysler Imperial town car at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum.
To answer Tom's query in the article, the removable roof was original to the car. Chrysler's Chrysler is currently in New Jersey being brought back to life. I hope to have it back on Long Island by late summer.
